Scythe & Child

#10 - Scythe

The Scythe may indicate a removal or clean break from something. This could be the stoppage of a relationship, the termination of employment or an employee, or some kind of decision you made to cease action with someone going forward. It could also indicate some kind of break in the physical sense, like a broken bone, or a rip or tear with the skin. “Scythes” often bring up imagery of knives, scalpels, syringes, and sharp medical tools. It could also be describing a garden hoe, shovel, rake, or any other combination of sharp farm tools, and can be referring to their potential harvest. You can combine all of these meanings, for example, a scythe could mean that there will be a break or interruption in a farming harvest. It could also be something accidental in nature, particularly from windy or stormy weather, like lighting and thunder. The scythe is most commonly correlated with silver, and other metallic colors like the tools and weapons it represents. It can also remind us of fall or Autumn harvest colors. A scythe can also ascertain that you’re about to go through some kind of dental or medical procedure. It may be an injection, a biopsy, or some kind of extraction. Whatever the procedure, it definitely involves a long and sharp tool. The scythe is long, strong, and very unforgiving. It does not listen to emotion, only pure logical reason.

#13 - Child

Child - The child, in your case, means that you are about to experience a rebirth. Something fresh and new is coming to you, and it may take a couple of months to get here but it will change your entire life. This could be a new job, or new work environment. It could even mean a new city or home. Regardless of the change in your life— the card featuring the child reminds us to look at all new things as optimistic challenges. A child does not become angry because it cannot master his first steps, he simply learns to walk, because it is the thing that he must do in order to survive. The most important thing about this card is that the challenges should be embraced with a youthful optimism and lighthearted energy. Change can be delightful. We hear often that optimists see the glass half full, while pessimists see the glass as half empty. Have you ever heard that old saying before? Well guess what, there’s a third group of people, who drink the water, so there is no longer a problem. The point is that while life and change is not in your control; you are not the barista or bartender who served up the original glass, you certainly have it in your power to decide what to do with the water! Life is what we make it, so let’s make it right.

Scythe + Child

The automatic impression or association people first have when I tell them that their reading combines a scythe and a child card is that there is going to be the death of a child. Although this is possible, through accident, abortion, or miscarriage— it is highly unlikely. It could indicate that your child will have a large dental procedure coming up, like impaction of wisdom teeth, for example. Remember that these cards are more symbolic than anything, and their messages are a little less literal than the obvious. What the scythe and child cards combined are likely trying to indicate is a loss of innocence will occur, either for you or someone in your immediate family. Someone may be growing up, developing a new skill, joining a new team. Negative things are possible as well, like your teenager experimenting with drugs or sex. This can also be something with you, like perhaps you are getting more duties and responsibilities at work or you are becoming less naive. You may be more jaded when it comes to things like dating after not having met a successful match. Do not give up, or lose your childhood innocence, unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Numerology

The scythe is represented by the number 10, and the child is represented by the number 13. When we add these numbers together, 10 + 13 = 23. Because twenty-three is not a single digit number, we must then add the digits of 23 together, and we get 2 + 3 = 5.

The Number 5

The Number 5 — Five is the number of days in a standard work week. It’s the number of fingers on hands and feet. Without even one toe, we have trouble walking. Without even one finger, we have trouble using our hands. Our roots are important and our feet are the foundation upon which our body stands and grows tall. Our children are our branches and limbs, and we must protect them. We also must protect the parts of ourselves that are still the most innocent. Timing wise, five may indicate 5:00, the month of May, Friday, or the letter E. In Chinese culture, the number 5 represents the elements: water, fire, metal, earth, and wood.

Today's Action Steps:

Think about what is childlike in your life, it could be your literal child or it could be a part of yourself that is childlike. If it’s your literal child, talk to them, find out where they are in their life, if they have anything that plagues them, and discern where it is that they are growing. If it’s within you, have a conversation with yourself and think about where you need to grow. Take reflective steps to insure that you will not lose your innocence unwillingly, and that you are aware of this growth within yourself and within your family.

Affirmation

“I will embrace with open arms any kind of growing up that my family will do this week. I will not fear change, but instead will meditate and reflect upon it, or pray upon it, and have the discussion with myself and my family so that we are ready for it when the time come, for the time is not far away.” Repeat this affirmation 2-3 times today.
