Snake & Garden

#7 - Snake

The snake, or serpent, is one of the most ancient and recognizable symbols there is. Anyone who was raised according to Christian beliefs or who has read the Bible knows about Adam and Eve and the snake symbolizing original sin and evil. The snake is also used in medical insignia — as the caduceus. You may have seen this logo before on hospitals or ambulances. The story goes in ancient mythology that Hermes used his staff to separate two snakes who were fighting. Upon forcing his staff down into the ground, the two snakes coiled around it and remained in perfect harmony forever. The snakes can also be symbolic of healing and achieving harmony. So a sighting of a snake is not always a completely negative thing. The Greeks regarded snakes as sacred, and used them in healing rituals, as their venom was thought to be a cure for many conditions. Their skin-shedding was viewed as a symbol of rebirth and renewal.

The snake card indicates that evil may be lurking ahead in the high grass or around the corner. It’s slithering, sinister, and ready to attack. It’s up to you to be extremely alert and to attempt to avoid it. You may bow to the temptation or not. Snakes may be venomous, and their level of venom may correlate to the time they strike and the location you find them. Although a snake’s venom can kill you, a different snake’s venom is needed to make the anti-venom that can save you, so as mentioned before, they do have two different sides to them. This can lead to you being easily manipulated or tricked by them.

In pop culture, references to the snake abound, as an example, have you ever heard of the Paula Abdul song “cold hearted snake”? It’s an analogy about a terrible cheating and lying boyfriend. A snake can indicate betrayal from someone you love, an illicit affair, or lying, cheating, or thievery. Receiving a snake card may be warning you something you thought was one thing, may indeed, turn out to be another. A job that you thought was going to be amazing can actually turn out to be more hours, more work, and less money and respect. Or perhaps a new lover that you thought might be a knight in shining armor turns out to be a complete dud, who wants to borrow money from you. There can be snakes in the grass everywhere, it is your job to look around and analyze your surroundings with intelligence and alertness, so that they don't bite you. Think over each decision carefully before you make it

#20 - Garden

The garden is often pictured as a garden, a picket fence, or grass with some plants, flowers, and butterflies. It can be personified however you see your personal garden growing.

The garden can signify new growth, beauty, or fragrant aromas filling your life. It typically indicates that the weeds will be pulled away and new beautiful things are coming to you. It can also bring up references of a garden party, tea, or gathering, and sometimes can describe a new group or event that will be happening. It may bring up ideas of a lot of activity, or springtime. New love blossoming is also a possibility as spring and flowers can typically be representative of that. A majority of the time though, a garden indicates everything a flutter, and social butterflies on the scene. This may be a grand opening of a store or shop, a new chain opening a location in your area, something happening with positive public relations, a town hall meeting or live broadcast on the news or something a buzz on social media, just like the little bees in the garden. It may specifically relate to something in the suburbs, and outside of the city, where there is more green around. It may refer to a garden, countryside, park, clubhouse, dog park, or an area where people roam and enjoy the nature outdoors. It may also speak of being green and not polluting the planet, or having a healthy and green immune system, and being well both mentally and physically. It could speak to the planet, the trees, and fresh air. The garden card is often related to the color green, like the color of the garden’s rich grass and flower stems.

Snake + Garden

When the snake and garden cards combine, the likely meaning is that there is someone who is a social butterfly who is about to reveal their true character to you. This person will likely stab you in the back.

Numerology

The snake is represented by the number 7, and the garden is represented by the number 20. When we add these numbers together, 7 + 20 = 27. Because twenty-seven is not a single digit number, we must then add the digits of 27 together, and we get 2 + 7 = 9.

The Number 9

The Number 9 — The number 9 can be symbolic of the 9th month, year, day, or week. It also may refer to the letter I, the 9th letter. Paired with flowers, a 9 may refer to a date or time in the spring season, when flowers are known to bloom. It can indicate the 9th hour or 9th minute as well. As children, 9 is proven to be a magical number in schools and summer camps when we learn math. It is number that everyone bragged about learning multiplication tables on their fingers, or with a deck of cards, and 9 always comes through for the mathematical win. You can multiply 9 by any number, get a result, add that result number’s digits together, and the resulting answer is always a 9. It’s a favorite number of magicians and tv tricksters to guess what number you’re thinking. Do you know what your own personal magic numbers are? Interestingly, in society, we use the number 9 sometimes to refer to multiple chances at life— such as a cat’s “9 lives”. Just like a cat gets another chance at life, so does a replanted flower, or re-soiled seed. It’s up to you to not waste your chance at another life, a recovery from an illness, a near-death experience, or a new love. Similarly, a “cat-o-9-tails” can be a sign of punishment, or atonement, and perhaps eventually a second chance. To be on “cloud 9” is also a very good thing in the American culture. 9 is considered a good number in Chinese culture because it sounds similar to the word for “long lasting.” In Greek culture, there are 9 Muses who are responsible for bringing all of the good things into the world, like art, dance, and poetry. You should take advantage of it as the flower takes advantage of the soil and the water we bring them in order to grow as tall and as beautiful as possible.

When it refers to the snake and garden cards, the 9 is likely trying to let you know that you may have given this person multiple chances in the past. You may have written off their careless and selfish behavior as just part of their character, or something that they cannot control. Understand, however, that this person is absolutely aware of what they are doing and is using you purposefully.

Today's Action Steps:

Make sure that you distance yourself from the social snakes in your own grass. You may have made excuses for these kinds of people but understand that this person or people is fully aware of their actions and is using you and mistreating you on purpose. Do everything you can to politely distance yourself, as causing drama will only make the situation worse for you. Find people in your life who are genuine and care for your success, and not just their own.

Affirmation

“I will only allow people so many chances to be unkind or untrue to me. Regardless of someone’s social status, wealth, or success, I will not allow them to treat me as a lesser value. I will stand up for myself and distance myself from this disrespect and disregard, so that I’m able to flourish surrounded by genuine people who love and appreciate me.” Repeat this affirmation 2-3 times today.
