You may be hearing voices to receive spiritual messages from other people, animals, nature, or even God. The statements can either be helpful or harmful.

Consider the emotions we experience as they are the bridge to our higher powers. We learn how to manage our feelings because we care about what happens to us.

The older we get, the more we recognize our emotions and develop ways to cope. We may also understand why we witness certain symbols, as they may be direct messages from above. But sometimes, it takes added motivation to discover how we discern specific messages.

Furthermore, when you visualize something, your brain creates an image of what you're imagining. This happens without thinking. Your mind is capable of producing images out of nothing.

So, the ability to receive a visual message from a higher power is also possible the more you practice. In fact, some people say that you'll notice visions and voices better than others because you have trained yourself to see better.

In addition to understanding messages, visualization techniques may improve your performance and creativity. So why not try what athletes do: practice visualizing winning a race while training? You may use visualization techniques to help achieve any personal goals you have.

Prophecy

God gives different gifts to His children. A voice telling you something important may be a gift of prophecy or miracle.

God and the universe reach out to us all the time. Sometimes it happens in the form of a dream. Sometimes it's a verse in the Bible, and sometimes it's just plain ol' prayer.

When you feel the power of the message, you may be hearing God through His many methods.

Dreams

Dreams are one of the most typical ways people meet God. According to the Association of Christian Counselors, about 50% of Christians say they've had prophetic dreams.

While some of those dreams may seem nonsensical, others come true. So it's best not to dismiss a dream if it lingers on your mind and makes you feel deeply.

Mental images

Mental images may come to your mind while you dream or pray. Your senses or thoughts can trigger them. You might even experience mental images during stress, illness, or fatigue. These images can be helpful reminders of a higher power.

Don't let imaginary images confuse you. Imaginary images are thoughts that don't actually happen; they just pop into your mind because someone told you something funny or you saw a picture or heard a song. These are daydreams instead.

Mental images are visions, another type of divine revelation. They differ slightly from dreams. Dreams are usually symbolic; visions may be more prophetic. They are ways a higher power communicates with us.
